Do you know that your child...

  • should be admitted to hospital only when absolutely necessary?

  • has the right to your presence at all times?
You should be offered somewhere to sleep and other facilities, and encouraged to help in your child's care.
  • has the right to express his/her views?
You and your child should be given all the information you need to make decisions.
  • has the right to be protected from all unnecessary pain and distress?

  • should be cared for with others of the same age in child-friendly surroundings?
  • should have opportunities for play and teaching?
  • should be cared for by staff fully trained in the needs of children?

  • should be treated with tact, understanding, and respect for privacy at all times?
