- Play in Hospital
- Further Information
Most hospitals now employ someone to look after
children’s play needs. These are mostly NNEB’s,
increasing numbers of whom take the National Association of
Hospital Play Specialists course. Trained play-leaders play a
vital role within the team looking after the child, striving to
make the hospital experience as non-traumatising as possible.
AWCH also has two play ambulances which are available
on loan to primary schools. These, together with equipment,
uniforms and books help children familiarise themselves through
role-play to a hospital environment.
For further information, or to book an ambulance, contact
Clare Lamb via email, or by telephone

The National Association of Hospital Play Staff
(NAHPS) is another registered charity which aims to
promote high professional standards for play staff, and to ensure
the provision of appropriate therapeutic and stimulating play
facilities in hospital. For more information, please click here.
